SAINT TIMOTHY
WE INVITE YOU TO COME WITNESS THE BEAUTY OF ANCIENT CHRISTIAN WORSHIP.
WE INVITE YOU TO COME WITNESS THE BEAUTY OF ANCIENT CHRISTIAN WORSHIP.

‘WE NO LONGER KNEW WHETHER WE WERE IN HEAVEN OR ON EARTH.’
These are the words of the emissaries of St. Vladimir, the Baptizer of Kievan Rus, when describing their inaugural experience of attending the Divine Liturgy at Hagia Sophia in Constantinople. St. Vladimir had sent envoys out into the world to find the True Faith. These envoys encountered Muslims, Jews, and Catholics but were unsatisfied with their findings until they discovered Holy Orthodoxy, at which point they reported their divine experience to St. Vladimir himself. In the late 10th century, the Christianization of Kievan Rus occurred – following the baptism of St. Vladimir. While in no way comparable to the grand beauty of the Liturgy witnessed by St. Vladimir’s emissaries in the renowned Hagia Sophia, our parish offers the same Liturgy here in Hickory that prompted the baptism of Russia, over 1000 years later.

Father Alexander typically provides two Divine Liturgies per month, with Vespers or Matins served the Saturday evening before. Confessions are heard directly following the Saturday evening service. In between divine services, Saint Timothy provides Typika and Vespers as reader’s services. All attendees are invited to join us for coffee hour or “trapeza” directly following all Divine Liturgies and Typikas on Sunday.
